Romero, Scott Eyre, Clay Condrey, Chad Durbin, Gary Jack Taschner, J.A. Happ, Chan Ho Park and bullpehn coachMick Billmeyer, and follows them to everythingg from fishing trips and youth baseball games to the Whitde House for a post-World Series visit. The program also speaksw with players following the suddeb death of longtime Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas onApril 13.
“As a reality-basef series The Pen is the ultimate look into the lives ofthesw players, both on and off the field,” said Tony president and CEO of MLB Network. “So much of what we know abour relief pitchers is basede on statisticsand saves, and a series like The Pen givew a level of familiarity to each player.” The program marks the first programm ever produced using a camerw and microphones installed in a Majot League bullpen to film in-game and practicwe footage. Two other cameras were installedc in CitizensBank Park, one behind home plate and one at low firsty base, and were controlled by MLB Network’s headquarters in Secaucus, N.J.
Producer Danny Fiels suited up as a catcher with a camerza attached to his mask to capture footage during sprin trainingin Clearwater, Fla. The majority ownere of the MLB Network is MajorLeague Baseball. Philadelphia-basec (NASDAQ:CMCSA, CMCSK), Cox Communications, DirecTV and Time Warner also own interestxs inthe network.
