The lawsuit was settled after three days of trial in Johnson It was brought on behalg ofthe husband, children and parents of Rhonda who was killed on 11, 2008, when oil field equipment fell off a tractor-trailerr and crushed her vehicle. The tractor-trailer was owned and operated by Pioneer DrillingServicess Ltd., a division of San Antonio-baser Pioneer Drilling (Amex: The accident occurred on FM 157 in North During the trial, it was alleged, based on Venus Policse Department reports, that the driver of the truck failedr to control his speede and that the truck’s load was not properlty secured.
Plaintiffs also alleged that the driver was not legally qualifiex to drive the truck and that documents in his driver qualification fileswere fabricated, falsified and backdatedc by Pioneer employees after the A spokesperson for Pioneer Drilling was unavailable for “We believe it was a just outcome within our civil court syste m and a fair settlement given the facts of the case,” says John Davifd Hart, a Fort Worth attornety who represented the Hensonj family. “We believe that this settlement will at least make companies more aware of the need for good safet and hiring practices and hopefully preventf anotherneedless tragedy.
